Why come to Kaolin Studios?

Kaolin Studios is a fun and relaxed place to try ceramics for the first time and/or to get better at wheel throwing. Classes are small and students choose their own direction, while working at their own pace.

Do I need to bring anything?

The studio is set up so that beginners just have to bring themselves. We provide materials and tools.

Do you offer hand building classes?

At the moment Kaolin Studios is a wheel throwing school but in the future may hold handbuilding classes and/or workshops.

Do you offer firing services?

Firing services are available. Please contact for specific questions.

Is everything handmade?

Everything purchased from Kaolin Studios is entirely handmade. Typically, the pieces are wheel thrown/ trimmed, bisque fired, hand glazed, and high fired.

Can I use the ceramics?

All the pieces are functional, as they have been high fired to stoneware/ porcelain temperatures. The ceramics are microwave and dishwasher safe, with the usual care you would give a ceramic object.
